Commercial sales along the first stretch of the Nord Stream began a year earlier than scheduled.
The Nord Stream is the longest underwater gas pipeline used to export gas.
The project involves Russia, Germany, Holland and France.
The main goal is to increase the supply of gas to the European market and the reduction of dependence on transit countries.
Putin also commented on the European Commission's issues with Gazprom and said he expects that all of the questions of the EU will soon be clarified and collaboration will continue.
